Case study

Iron Gate Assets.

I built a single-screen WordPress homepage for a brokerage that sells everything from farmland to planes. Buyers in this space skim, so I replaced long copy with five tall image panels, one per asset class, and set up the templates the team would need as listings grew.

// how it was built

From brief to launch.

The brief was short on copy and long on future content, so I planned the front page and the back-end structure together.

  1. 01 discover

    Reading the buyer

Machinery and aviation buyers scan rather than read, so I agreed with the client that the homepage would carry almost no body text.

  2. 02 plan

    Mapping asset classes

I listed the five categories the brokerage sells and planned one panel and one for-sale category for each.

  3. 03 design

    Black, silver, red

I kept the palette tied to the logo and darkened the excavator, airfield and engine photos so labels stay legible.

  4. 04 build

    Panels and ticker

In WordPress I built the panel row, pointed each one at the right sale category and wrote the continuously scrolling red banner.

  5. 05 content

    Future-ready templates

I set up careers, financing and blog layouts so the team could publish those pages without new development.

    Stacked on phones

I tested the mobile view, where panels stack into a vertical swipe and the ticker keeps running, then handed the site over.

What I did

The build, step by step.

  • Five panels, one pitch. Land, buildings, equipment, autos and aviation each get a tall photo column, so the full range reads in a single look.
  • A ticker that never stops. I coded the red scrolling banner to keep moving on every screen size, including phones.
  • Panels that lead somewhere. Each column opens the for-sale category for that asset type rather than a generic listings page.
  • Industrial, not decorative. Black backgrounds, a silver logo and small red marks on white labels let the darkened machinery photos do the talking.
  • Room to grow. Layouts for careers, financing and blog posts were ready at launch, so new inventory can slot in behind the front page.
