Case study

Paul Gaston Consulting.

I built Paul Gaston Consulting a site that reads like a qualifications file rather than a sales page. Licenses lead, including the current Chicago general contractor license number, experience follows in scannable checklists, and a short process shows exactly how an engagement moves from free consultation to retainer.

// how it was built

From brief to launch.

Attorneys pick construction experts carefully, so I built this site in the order they check qualifications and start an engagement.

  1. 01 discover

    How counsel vets

I mapped what a lawyer confirms first: licensing, training, commercial and residential project history, and how to retain the expert.

  2. 02 plan

    Record-style structure

I ordered licenses, experience checklists and the engagement process, and built separate service pages for engineering, construction and renovation witness work.

  3. 03 design

    Navy and cream

I kept imagery sparse, with scaffolding against the sky and one portrait in the introduction, so the page feels like a dossier.

  4. 04 build

    Grids and checklists

I coded the certification grid covering OSHA, aerial lift, scaffold and firestopping training, plus the three experience columns.

  5. 05 optimise

    Consultation at each break

I placed a free consultation offer between sections and added an accessibility toolbar across the site.

  6. 06 ✓ shipped

    Phone reading order

I checked that on phones the three checklist columns combine into one list without losing their sequence.

What I did

The build, step by step.

  • Credentials in vetting order. I sequenced the page the way lawyers check an expert, starting with licenses and certifications before anything else.
  • License number on display. The current city general contractor license number is published on the page so counsel can verify it directly.
  • Experience as checklists. Three columns list roles, sectors and project types, and on phones they merge into one list that still reads in order.
  • A clear engagement path. I laid out every step, from the first consultation to signing an agreement, paying the retainer and beginning the work.
  • Dossier, not brochure. Navy and cream, a scaffolding silhouette in the hero and a single portrait of the expert keep the tone professional.
